For the survival of sessile invertebrates specially those ones that don't have an active mechanism of pumping water through is organs (corals, anemones, worms, sponges, tunicates and more), an artificial mechanism that can create a water current is essential. It is essential to have a flow of water for these organisms so that they can excrete metabolic toxins and get oxygen, micronutrientes and food. The most efficient way to move the water
is by using a pump and/or powerhead. Fortunately, hobbyists
